Early Wounds and the Voice Beneath

Like many, my path has been shaped early by trauma, loss, and disconnection from my authentic self. I spent years caught in cycles of addiction, self-sabotage, and an unhealthy attachment to the identity of victimhood. But even in my darkest moments, there was a quiet, persistent knowing, like a voice from somewhere beyond, reminding me that all of this was part of something bigger. This is the path, even if you can't see it yet. I didn’t understand it, but it was always there, just beneath the surface.

Seeking Something Deeper

Through years of doing the difficult inner work, I began to realize that the conventional medical model of addiction, while helpful at one stage of my journey, no longer spoke to the deeper truths I was seeking. It focused on what was wrong with me, not what I was yearning for. What helped me most was world travel, deep conversations, time in nature, adventures, and intentional psychedelic experiences. These weren’t quick fixes, but gateways back to myself.

A False Summit and a Wake-Up Call

Eventually, I moved to Arizona to start fresh. For the first time, things felt aligned. I loved living in the desert, I loved my work as an adventure guide, and I felt a sense of purpose and financial stability I hadn’t known before. And then it all came apart. That pesky self-sabotage had reared its head again, just when life was beginning to feel good. It knocked the wind out of me, but it also forced me to slow down and listen in a way I hadn’t before.

Coming Home to the Path

That low point became a turning point. I stopped trying to rebuild the life I had lost and started listening to what was quietly asking to emerge. I got support, followed the threads, and eventually enrolled in the Being True to You coaching program, where I earned my certification in February 2025. It didn’t feel like a new job. It felt like coming home to something I had sensed all along—that this path of healing and growth wasn’t just mine to walk, but mine to share. I began to see how everything I had lived through could be transformed into a way of serving others. I was finally honoring the quiet voice I’d been hearing for years. The one that kept whispering, "This is the path, even if you can't see it yet."

The Story Behind the Name

ALTITUDE AWAKENINGS

Rooted in the Moutains

The name Altitude Awakenings was born from my love of the mountains, which have shaped me in subtle but powerful ways. From the cloud forests of Costa Rica’s Talamanca Mountains to the peaks of the Andes in Ecuador, the Bradshaws in Arizona, and the Rockies in Colorado, each range has offered me space to reflect and realign. There’s something sacred about elevation. It gives me perspective and allows me to get lost without needing a clear destination. Altitude honors those landscapes, both physical and symbolic. Awakenings speaks to the inner shifts that rise when I slow down and listen deeply to who I really am.

guided by the journey

You’ll notice language throughout my site that reflects adventuring and journeying. That’s intentional. I believe life is one long journey, full of twists, turns, detours, and discoveries. Some of the most meaningful shifts in my life have happened on winding trails, solo travels, and quiet mountaintops. The journey metaphor reminds me that transformation isn’t linear. There is no perfect map, only presence, curiosity, and the courage to keep walking.
